Northumberland – Nancy J. (Barnhart) Shipman, 77, of Point Township, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024 at her home with family.

 

Born in Sunbury on March 10, 1947 to the late George and Ruth (Roush) Barnhart of Sunbury.

 

Nancy was a graduate of Sunbury High School, Class of 1965. Nancy wed Terry Shipman on January 15, 1965, and enjoyed a long life together of 58 years before his passing in 2023. 

 

Nancy had previously worked at Fanny Farmer’s Candy Store and Something Special Flower Shop. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Nancy attended Saint Matthew’s Episcopal Church of Sunbury, where she helped start His Disciples Food Pantry and was a very active member. Nancy had a sweet tooth and loved anything chocolate and was an avid baker, specifically cakes. She enjoyed listening to music, especially Nat King Cole, and dancing with her husband any chance they got. Nancy loved horses and her granddog, Charlie, who she would often nap with. She enjoyed getting together with the “group” from high school and cherished spending time with her family and friends. 

 

Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Terry Shipman, in November 2023. Surviving are sons Terry Shipman (Angela) of New Cumberland, and Richard Shipman (Tricia) of Point Township; three grandchildren, Jacob Shipman (Lindsey), Noah Shipman, and Chloe Shipman all of Point Township; two great grandchildren, Luke and Ava Shipman of Point Township; two cousins, Richard Simpsons, and Frank Simpson (Lori) of Sunbury; her “girls”, Jessica Murphy and Lyndsay Bierly of Sunbury; two godsons, Ronan Murphy and Sullivan Bierly of Sunbury; three step-grandchildren, Kaylyn Wolfe (Chuck) of Mechanicsburg, Brittany Hess of Etters, and Jayda Hess of Wormleysburg; six step-great grandchildren, Tristan, Carly, LJ, Freya, Roman, and Noah.

 

A memorial Service will be announced at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made in Nancy’s name to St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Sunbury.
